When you earn the Instructional Design Service Badge in the Instructional Design Service Course: Gain Experience for Good on Canvas.net, you have demonstrated that you have completed an instructional design process to develop an instructional product to support a social need. In other words, you have gained experience for good! Upon successful completion of the Instructional Design Service Badge requirements (see requirements below), you will also receive a Certificate of Recognition* from Designers for Learning recognizing your instructional design service contribution. Successful completion will be determined based on the following requirements:

  • Complete course requirements in Modules 1 through 7.
  • Submit a final lesson deliverable meeting all of the project and Design Guide requirements for upload to the Adult Learning Zone group on OER Commons within the Reflect | M7 | Final Deliverable Recap reflection in Module 7.

* Please note that we do not offer a letter of reference or other certifications based on this experience given the relatively short duration of the project (i.e. an estimated 40 hours of design work).

Verify Course Requirement Completion

To unlock your badge and certificate, you must ensure that you have completed the course requirements within the Canvas.net course. To do so, open the Modules List and verify you have completed each requirement in Modules 1 – 7. Complete the requirement for any requirement missing a green checkmark (see example below).

How to View Badge & Certificate

When all requirements are completed, the Badge and Certificate Module will be unlocked within the course. You will be asked to complete a brief reflection survey about earning your Instructional Design Service Badge. Once your accomplishments are verified by a course instructor, your Badge and Certificate will be issued. You can save your digital Badge (with portable information about your achievement locked inside) wherever you store your other Open Digital Badges, such as the Open Badges Backpack.
