This Designers for Learning webcast was part of our Education Impact Day, a 12-hour webcast-athon held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 featuring 12 featured speakers. This is a recording of our conversation with Eugene G. Kowch, Associate Professor at the University of Calgary.
Bio: Eugene G. Kowch obtained his PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Saskatchewan in 2003. His professional work includes 15 years in engineering and leadership in global energy companies followed by 20 years as a teacher, principal, deputy school superintendent, associate professor of educational technology and associate professor of educational leadership. He teaches graduate classes in leadership and learning sciences and undergraduate courses in teacher preparation, focusing on interdisciplinary instructional design and instructional leadership. Dr. Kowch’s nationally awarded research teams take a complexity and systems approach to describe, analyze and to develop adaptable education systems in technology-integrated organizations. He has also been an officer in AECT for 10 years, serving as a Division officer, President, as an AECT Board member and he is President-Elect for AECT (2017). He serves on numerous Boards, including the British Journal of Educational Technology. Dr. Kowch believes strongly that educational technology scholars and practitioners are positioned to be the next generation of change leaders in the information age.
