Please join our next Designers for Learning webinar on Tuesday, June 23rd at 6 p.m. (Eastern) where we will showcase the designs of the student volunteers involved in our recent service-learning cohort. The instructional design project was facilitated by members of the Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) and Designers for Learning, a nonprofit organization that coordinates volunteer service-learning opportunities for instructional design students who seek to gain experience creating instruction and other types of performance improvement solutions for nonprofits and other social enterprises.
The focus of this 100% virtual service-learning project was the instructional design of open educational resources to support the work of Grace Centers of Hope, a faith-based outreach to homeless and disadvantaged individuals and families. Clients in the Grace Centers of Hope recovery program who have not earned a high school diploma take in-house classes to prepare for the General Educational Development (GED) test. While the outcome of this project will support the mission of Grace Centers of Hope, our overriding plan is to build on the design students’ work to support those involved with adult basic education.
If time permits, we will also discuss preliminary plans for our fall project. Our live webinars are held using the online video platform Zoom (see connection athttp://designersforlearning.
See you Tuesday!
